What A Fight Night: Lewis vs. Klitschko Even though there was not a knock out, the 15,939 boxing fans that witnessed the fight live in action were stunned round after round as these two heavyweight boxers stood strongly for all of the six rounds they fought. Lewis was once again named WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World after Dr. Wallace called a stop because of the Klitschko's eye injury. "I did not want them to stop the fight. My strategy was to take it into the twelfth round. It was working perfect. It wasn't easy, but I felt like I was winning. I know I was hurting him with my punches," Klitschko said during the post press conference. "He would have got knocked out in the next couple of rounds, look at his face." Lewis went on to say, "There was no way he could have finished the fight. He was just deteriorated, anyway." The reason that the fight was stopped after the sixth round was due to the fact that one of the ring doctors Paul Wallace felt dangerous enough of Klitschko's two deep uppercuts by his left eye. "There was a significant difference from the first time I had examined him. Because of the laceration, the lid was hanging in such a way that he wasn't able to protect himself." Wallace said. "I asked him to look at me and, when he lifted his head, his eyelid covered his field of vision. He had to move his head to see me. If he had to move his head to see me, there was no way he could defend himself. It was a dangerous situation." There may be a rematch between the two fighters. "I want a rematch. This was just one unlucky fight," Klitschko said. "Lennox Lewis is the best. I will have no problem for a rematch," Lewis said. "Tonight's bout was what the heavyweight boxing division was looking for a long time," stated Dr. Yong Yao, the President and CEO of eC-T, after the post press conference on Saturday night. "We are looking forward to being given such a rematch opportunity to once again bring the best entertainment experience of its kind to boxing lovers from around the world." There was no controversy with Laila Ali's victory, however, even when the fight was stopped by the referee. Laila blasted her opponent Valerie Mahfood's head three times in a row, snapping Mahfood's head back and forth until Mahfood became defenseless. "I am a greater fighter," said Laila. "People like me. This was the most exciting fight of the night." Laila Ali is surely not just living on the name of her father, the legendary boxer of the world.
